If you love Austin you have to participate in this race because it’s not just a race, it is a scavenger hunt where you use your gray cells to solve puzzles to the next location, spot objects and people, it involves a little bit of dashing and maybe some dancing. It has geocaching to find your next clues and you also get to chill in the Lake for a bit! You get lots of photo opportunities and meet awesome people like yourself! Imagine all cool, out of the ordinary Saturdays you’ve spent with your buddies, this is all of that in one place in 5 hours.
Who can participate?
Atleast one team member should be 18 or above.
You have to be over 21 years of age to attend the after party.
You don’t have to be a runner or a Sunday puzzle solver. This race is designed to entertain everyone!

What is Amazing Austin Race?
A hybrid of scavenger hunt and geocaching!
Get your weekly dose of adrenaline exploring Austin with your friends, clicking silly pictures on the way and burning lots of calories :) and then finish the race drinking at the awesome after party!!!

The organizer?
I am a computer geek/ hiker/ painter/ live music lover… (sounds like anyone you know in Austin yet?) and I’m raising funds for the Secure Livelihoods project in Kenya.
I love the Amazing Race and so instead of organizing a usual 5K race or social event to raise funds for the charity VSO, I decided to make it more fun and inclusive! Just like this city.

What next?
Congrats, now that you’ve signed up for an awesome weekend with your buddies, pick up your high school math books and start solving. Just kidding.
This adventure will have clues and tasks in form of easy puzzles, locating places, things and people in the Austin downtown/UT campus, talking to strangers to get your next clue, lots of photo opportunities and chilling out in the Town Lake during our physical challenges.
Well, basically we’ve put all the fun weekends that you can have in Austin into a 4 hour race. Enjoy! And thank you for your participation!
What should I bring?
- Pen/ pencil
- Digital camera or camera phone , you will be required to email media during/after the race.
- Comfortable clothes/sneakers
- A prop you want to use in the pictures. Be creative but don’t get into trouble!!!
- Money $10 per person (you won’t be required to purchase anything for the race but should always keep some cash in handy)
- Water (Electrolyte recommended!).
- Don’t forget your hat and shades!
- Enthusiasm, lots of it!

As of now the race is still on, we’ll make a few changes to the course. It is very difficult to find a weekend that works for all participants. But, if becomes impossible, it will be postponed.
